One Challenge Finishes & Another Starts & Bootcamp

2009 March 3

This is the latest challenge I finished for Kiwi Writers. I had to send in a piece of work I’d done during one of their challenges. The entries go off to three judges and could end up in a book of short stories between 2,000 and 6,000 words. I entered ‘My Merry Maids’, it’s one I was writing under Madam Cassandra, although I’m not expecting to win. LOL. I will be interested to see what the judges say as it is the first time I’ve let anyone read any of my erotic writing. ‘Gulp’, I’ll let you know how I go.

I signed up for National Novel Editing Month this month. Yeah I know I wasn’t going to do anymore challenges. The lovely Diane Curran asked me the other day if I’d joined and of course you put a challenge before me and I have to have a go.  So here I am doing NaNoEdMo, what do I have to do? Edit 50 hours of work during March, I can do that! It’s not like I don’t have anything that needs editing. LOL. I’m working on my first NaNoWriMo novel as I’m thinking of entering the Valerie Parv Awards with it, and boy does it need some work. LOL. Valerie was one of the presenters at our recent Romance 109 Bootcamp and was absolutely wonderful I learnt so much from Valerie’s workshop on Romance Story Structure (WOW). Along with the other presenters: Anne Gracie ~ Conflict (Fantastic), Christine WellsQuestion & Answer Session (Enlightening), Elizabeth Rolls   (Elizabeth is also our Mentor for the next couple of months)~ Show not Tell (So may light blub moments), Karin Tabkle ~ Question & Answer session (So helpful & wonderful with her time), Marion Lennox ~ Value Yourself & Your Writing (A great workshop) and we also had one of the coordinators Dana Fletcher-Scullyrun a Looking After the Writer’s Body (So informative about the way to make sure you stretch & rest your body during writing). The other coordinators Nikki Logan (Loop Mum & Technical Support), Rachel Bailey (Team Coordinator & our on going Mentor), Alison Leake (Presenter Liaison & Archivist) and Tracey Turner (Logistical Support). All these women did a fantastic job with the bootcamp and I will be forever in their debt for all their help.

Okay back to challenges, I’m also doing EIAW with RWAustralia, I have to edit 5 pages a day for this week. Pam Collings runs this one for the Romance Writers of Australia as well as BIAW and a weekly writing challenge. She is keeping us on our toes this year. LOL.

So as you can see I’ve been very busy with my writing in way way or another.

See ya next time.

Good luck with “My Merry Maids”.

At least NanoEdmo and the EIAW overlap.

Mind you I’ve only managed 4 pages so far. Finding it hard to get my mind back into the previous Bilby Creek adventure. But its all stacked up on the table (found the previous printout) then I think I’m sure I’ve changed a heap of stuff since then. But I don’t want to do a whole new printout. Aagh! Already going crazy!

Yeah I know how you feel. I’m only editing the first 50 pages for now to enter the VP Awards.
